Appearance - Pours a deep ruby amber with a finger thick head, below average retention, and a resulting lace that's thin but consistent and somewhat sticky.
Smell - Heavy aroma of spice; almost medicinal or soda like. Cinnamon and nutmeg. Very little pumpkin in the nose.
Taste - Starts with a touch of smoke and light pumpkin flavors; a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg spice comes through about midtaste, before finishing with what I can only describe as an aspartame like flavor coinciding with all the other character. Too little pumpkin, too much strange spice flavoring.
Mouthfeel - Light with light tingle from the carbonation.
Overall - Bleh! It feels like I'm drinking a flat diet pumpkin soda, and a bad one at that. I've had pumpkin ales before; this is a bad example for the style. All the pumpkins in the world won't make the flavor come through if you overkill it with spices.
