Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Spiegelau tulip. Best before February 2012 notched on label.
Appearance: Pours a deep reddish-brown color with ruby highlights and a 1-2 finger frothy light tan head.
Smell: Nutmeg and cinnamon are dominant here with a touch of malt in the background. Smells a lot like a pumpkin pie.
Taste: Pumpkin pie flavor up front followed by sweet malt in the middle before ending with more spices, a light amount of hops and a touch of black pepper at the finish. Aftertaste is fairly dry with spices mixed in.
Mouthfeel: Light-to-medium-bodied with a very high amount of prickly carbonation.
Drinkability: Good drinkability. You could knock back a few of these on a cold fall evening. This being a hot August day in Southwest Florida, I'm stopping at just one, but I won't hold that against the beer.
Overall: Good beer overall. I could see myself reaching for this time after time during the fall if I lived in a colder climate. Definitely worth a shot.
