Purchased in the 2011 Harvest Collection sampler. Poured from bottle to an imperial pint. Best by January 2012 notched on label.
A: Deep chestnut with ruby hues. Tan head dissipates quickly and leaves little lacing.
S: Rich aroma of pumpkin flesh, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar. Smells almost exactly like canned pumpkin pie filling.
T: Very biscuity malt with cinnamon and burnt sugar taking over. Unbalanced. Not enough pumpkin flavor to blend the malt and spice. A bit of a sour aftertaste.
M: Medium-bodied with a dry, sour aftertaste that isn't very pleasing to the tongue. Otherwise a smooth, dexterous brew.
O: Promising sight and smell, but falls short once it hits the lips. I was slightly put off by the sourness I detected in the aftertaste. There are much better pumpkin ales out there for consumption this Halloween.
