12 oz out of fall mix pack 12

A - dark ruby color, two finger head that slowly goes down to thin lace.

S - spices, pumpkin, bread, maybe some cascade hops

T - pumpkin. Some hints of other spices (nutmeg and cinnamon), heavy malt, slight hop presence.

M - pretty spot on. Right about average for carbonation and heft.

O - a tasty beverage, great style for mix pack, as several in row would be less enjoyable. But this is recommended for all pumpkin fans.

Poured from a fresh 12oz into a pint glass

A: Burnt caramel in hue with a fluffy, creme head. This looks like a beer I would want in my glass on a (still hot) autumn evening.

S: Meaty notes of pumpkin character sprinkled with familiar spices of nutmeg and cinnamon. The aroma has a good throw and presents a welcome scent upon each quaff.

T: Big, hearty notes of pumpkin bread with a dash of nutmeg and cinnamon. The beer has a bold, consistent flavor all the way through and finishes with a touch of sweetness.

M: Rather full bodied with a great velvety character. I enjoyed the smoothness of this brew upon the palette. Full on flavor but gentle on the palate. Compliments to SA for getting this one down right.

O: I rather enjoyed Samuel Adam's seasonal pumpkin offering. Although a rather tried and true style, BBC just got it right with this one in creating a superbly drinkable and well flavored seasonal.

Medium light tan head settles into a decent lacing above a clear deep reddish colored beer.

Light aroma of pumpkin spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, really had to swirl the beer to release enough aroma to discern what exactly it consists of, but in doing that this beer releases a pretty good scent.

A pretty good pumpkin taste without going over board like a lot of harvest/pumpkin beers tend to do. Has the pumpkin spices, nutmeg, cinnamon, etc. without trying to drowned you in it.

A light dry aftertaste with a bit of pumpkin spices on this medium bodied affair.

If you're not big on the whole got to have a pumpkin beer in the fall thing you might want to try this one, it's not overbearing and doesn't bring any bad tastes along with it.

Appearance: Festive Halloween blood-red. A bit of lacing and foam. I like this solely on the red color.

Smell: Decent fruity pebbles smell. Some bubblegum as well. Some nutmeg and maybe a bit of clove.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Mostly spices, especially nutmeg and some cinnamon. There is a strong and cloyingly bitter aftertaste, almost as if something went bad. I might give this another shot fresh on tap, but I'm not a fan.

Overall Drinkability: Most of Sam's experiments usually show some sort of promise, even if they are not my favorite. This one's not good though. Stick to their Octoberfest.

12 oz bottle best before Feb '13. Poured into a hoffman house chalice.

A - Pour straight down the middle generates a large, reddish tan tightly packed head. Color is deep red to brown, very clear. Medium to low carbonation on inspection.

S - Sweet cinnamon with a deep fruitiness, almost cherry-like. Aroma not as powerful as some of the heavier pumpkin beers, but still present.

T - Creamy caramel with a subtle cracker note fades into a very mild brown sugar and allspice flavor. No hops obvious. Finish is modestly sweet. Some pumpkin-like flavors noticed in the finish (like summer squash).

M - Medium to heavy body with mild carbonation. Excellent mouthfeel.

O - An easy drinking, modest but tasty example of the pumpkin ale style. Not as spiced and aggressive as many of the most popular examples, but a clean brew that is easy to drink. Note that this was consumed at cellar temperature, which greatly increased the mouthfeel and enjoyability of this beer.
