Pours a solid black with ruby highlights when held to light. 1 inch tan head, dissapated faster than I would have guessed, but a ring remained and nice lacing was left behind.
A nice, sweet, malty aroma. Subtle.
The first thing I taste is Raisins, followed by anise, alcohol, and coffee. Maybe a semi sweet chocolate hidden in there somewhere too. Aftertaste is burnt toast.
This is a really hearty, smooth, and lightly carbonated imperial stout. You can use a knife and fork with this one.
Overall, I find this very drinkable, but no more than 2 in a night.
