A thick, two-finger head of a bronzed tan color erupts from the pour, with a silky sheen and some larger bubbles mixed in the dense, craggy surface. Below lies a thick, opaque body, as near black as any brew in my recollection.
The scent of fresh brewed coffee and roast cocoa beans with a trace of alcohol esters hints at the contents. At first gulp, a pointed bitterness hits the tongue and softens to smoked toffee and burnt coffee flavors with a lingering aftertaste of unsweetened baker's chocolate. A compliment of hops melds easily into the background of the intense malts.
