Some aromas of dark fruit, raisins, molasses and alcohol show up on the nose of this beer. Although, it is not particularly pungent.
Pours a dark brown in the pink glass with a thin, pillowy head that dissipates pretty quickly.
Taste has huge malty sweetness on it like you'd imagine. A little dark fruit, but the tasty is predominately of a lot of caramel and brown sugar here. It's pretty thick in the mouth, but not ridiculously so. Finishes with a good dose of brown sugary sweetness, with a little astringency. No attempt to put hops in this brew. As for the alcohol, it's extremely well hidden considering the ABV. Even for style, this is a pretty boozy beer, and they manage to hide it. That could definitely be due to just how sugary this beer is.
This is definitely a tasty doppelbock. Since the label says they put enough malt in each bottle to bake a loaf of bread, I'm sure the waistline won't agree. However, I'm impressed by this beer's smoothness and sweetness without being over the top.

Pours a medium brown with caramel highlights and minimal cream head that dissipates to almost nothing.
Deep caramelization, melanoidins. Toasted, nutty malt.
Lots of kettle caramelization, slightly sweet melanoidin character. Enough toasted malt to counter the sweetness and nuttiness to finish things out. Slightly bitter finish. A touch of roast and dark cherries.
Body is fairly full with minimal carbonation and substantial alcohol warmth.
Nice melanoidin character, not cloyingly sweet, but a bit hot.
Serving type: on-tap
