Pours a dark reddish brown color with a small tan head that lasts for a little while before settling down and leaving a nice bit of lacing.
Aroma is very pleasing with a strong scent of caramel and dark fruits upfront with a little alcohol present toward the back.
Taste reveals a lot of caramel and nutty flavors with some molasses, licorice and toffee. Alcohol makes a slight warming presence but isn't as strong as I expected.
Smooth creamy mouthfeel. For 9.5%, this is a fairly easy drinker as the alcohol is hidden wuite well although it does sneak up. Overall, very enjoyable and worth having again.

Notes: Unable to determine exact year brewed as it's not stated on the bottle anywhere. However, the label is an older design and I've had the bottle in my cellar for at least a year. Served at 40 degrees in a tulip.
Deep mahogany body with a tint of red and surprisingly clear. Heavily carbonated. Thin, bone-white head starts off small and reduces to a small ring fairly quick. Minimal lacing but decent legging.
Dull. As the beverage warms, some dark fruit makes a debut over a subtle malt body. Light spice.
Thankfully more exciting than the nose leads you to believe. Gobs of biscuit and thick malt. Roast caramel and hints of toffee. Raisin and fig and all together incredibly sweet. Yeast. No real alcohol presence, with the exception of a slight burn on the finish. Aftertaste that of Molasses and caramel malt.
One of the heaviest beers I've had in recent memory - thick, lip-smacking body. Decent carbonation helps lighten the load a bit. Leaves a slight film in your mouth. Super sweet finish.
A solid beer from Boston Beer Co. Indulge in this one slowly as it is thick and I wouldn't be surprised if the ABV were to sneak up on some. Beware of cavities as this is one sweet beer but don't let that stop you from grabbing a bottle - it's worth it.
