Thanks to WifeofKegatron for thinking of me and picking me up a pack of this when she was out of state.
Pours a slightly hazy coppery darker amber color with 2+ fingers of foamy off-white head. OK retention with nice lacing cling and clumps. Smells of pine, citrus fruits like apricot and pineapple, spicy hops, caramel, and biscuit. Tastes of grapefruit, pineapple, mango, apricot, and oranges up front followed by some caramel malts and biscuit notes. Finishes with some spicy hops and pine resin as well as a touch of alcohol warmth. Medium to medium-full in body with pleasant carbonation. Sweet and hoppy with a dry and sticky finish. A good DIPA that I would definitely consider as a staple DIPA if it became a regular in the Samuel Adams lineup, but as a special limited release I wouldn't rush out for more. It may be based on Pliny the Elder, but it just doesn't compare.
