Poured into Sam Adam's turbulator (fresh until Sept. 2009). Pours a hazy copper-gold with a few bubbles rising ever so slowly to the top. Almost a two finger head, tan and fluffy that settles with time. Nice ring effect when swished.
Sweet caramel malt combines with pineapple & grapefruit on the nose. Notes of booze and wood appear with whiffs of grass and bread.
Roasted grains and sugary malt with a heavy handed dose of pine, grapefruit, and sour grapes. The booze could be hidden a little better as it punches your palate. The slow burn of 9.6% down the back of the throat leaves the mouth tart and dry. After taste of bitter greens & citrus.
An agressive DIPA that represents the style well. A couple of these would be plenty & it's certainly worth a try.
