Bought in the S.A Summer Variety Pack ... poured into a Sam Adams pint glass.

Appearance: It looks like a beer drinker's piss. Pours with a nice head, but goes down fairly quickly, and leaves a bit of lacing with a wispy head before too long.

Smell: Hoppy. What else would you expect? An earthy, citrusy, hoppy smell. Not too shabby.

Taste: Different with every sip, which is awesome ... I don't find too many beers that do this to me. It's like some kind of Willy Wonka mastery. Hoppy as all get out, but still some nice maltiness on the finish.

Mouthfeel: Not much to it.. somewhat watery, but it makes this beer super drinkable.

Overall, a decent beer. Every sip gives me something different. One drink and it's floral, the next it's earthy, then spicy. Despite all the hops though, you still get malts in the background, so it's not a SUPER hop bomb, though hop heads will indeed enjoy this beer. I think the overall BA rating is a bit high, but this is still a VERY respectable Sam Adams.

this was my last american beer before i left the states for the summer, and a recent classic. i prefer it in the bottle. this beer pours a relatively standard pils color, with a yellow glow and a tall frothy white head with surprisingly good retention. it smells more hoppy than the pilseners i am used to, but i welcome that! some sturdy bready malts in there as well. flavor is well balanced but the hops are a really nice addition. bitter and citric, but not fruity, a perfectly crisp finish is in store too, just right for a pils. still not majorly thrilling, but a very likeable pils for a hophead. feel is pretty good, plenty of body for a pils, more than normal, and superb carbonation. overall i like this beer quite a lot, a break from convention that works really well in all seasons.
