This beer pours a spun gold color. The head is an inch and a half in height, and recedes slowly into nice lacing. The aroma is of spicy noble hops, moderate bitterness, and assertive bready malt. The taste is very refreshing. The hops are sharp, but the malt is strong enough to balance everything out. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with lively carbonation, and a smooth texture. Overall, this is one of the best German Pilseners I've had the pleasure of tasting. This beer replacing Sam Adams White Ale as their spring seasonal has got to be one of the best things to happen to craft beer in the last decade. I will certainly be drinking this by the case load. (662 characters)

My First Time

The first time I had this beer I wasn't expecting too much more than just another solid SA seasonal. I did the, "drink it straight from the bottle because it's nothing special" thing. Well, after the first sip it was apparent that this beer was much more than your run of the mill, crappy American-made pilsner. I was hooked after the first sip! This is the kind of beer that BMC should be making when they claim "Triple Hops Brewed". Now, if you claim that I am somehow overrating this beer; fine, you got me. But it's only on the off chance that I can turn this beer on to someone new to craft beer. Because I know they will have a similar experience to mine for their first time. (697 characters)

Wow, I was glad I got this to try. Appearance is just like most pils but the smell is great. Smell of grass, honeysuckle, with some spiciness. Taste is great. Glides across tongue what is this? It finishes like a nice white wine of all things! This is a pretty good beer. Very nice drinking for the coming spring. (313 characters)

When i poured into my glass, it was a very nice golden color with a nice 1/2" head then it slowly went down to a nice thin ring around the glass. Has a nice smell of hops and a little citrus. I think it tastes really nice and balanced with the hops, also has a hint of grapefruit. feels very nice on the tongue and goes down nice and smooth. I think it is very drinkable. (371 characters)

Samuel Adams Noble Pils has a medium, slightly off-white head, and a fairly clear golden appearance. Carbonation is medium. The aroma is not strong, but there is certainly a wonderful sharpness to it after a deep inhalation. The taste is full, bready, grassy, earthy, and it has a fantastic hop balance. The hops become more prominent in the after-taste. Mouth-feel is medium. This beer finishes wet and refreshing. Another home run from a great brewing company.

Overall a great beer. The first one that I have tried with 5 different kinds of hops. A different taste than other hoppy beers. Not too carbonated which I love, sometimes the IPA's can be a bit strong on the carbonation side I feel. I agree that this should be a summer release, but now is a pretty good time to drink a few. I could see myself drinking more of these in one sitting, as for right now, this late maybe not. I feel this beer would be exceptionally good on tap, but as of now haven't been able to find it. (518 characters)

pours a very clear straw yellow to gold in to my erdinger weibbier glass (hey it was the only glass clean lol). small 1 finger head. some minimal sticky lace. very nicely carbonated, full of bubbles. looks very refreshing. smell is grassy, kind of lightly piney. some feint malt n there. taste is very nice! crisp hop pine with some white toast and grass. sweet light malt, followed my a very nice mellow hop bitter. feels soft and clean on the tongue. very nice. amazing session beer. i'm glad i bought a whole 6 pack! probably sam adams most solid beer. a bit more hoppy than most german pils but, that's the way we like it! a great example of how you can make a beer light but still classy. cheers! (701 characters)

Glad to review a much hyped beer that is easily accessible and none the less produced by BBC. Poured a 12 oz bottle into a pilsner glass with a nice rich one inch head that lasts. The beer pours a nice golden/yellow color quite befitting of the style.

The aroma is filled with a light floral bouquet of hops filled with grapefruit, pine and a light citrus hint followed by a grassy and grainy aroma.

Wow the taste is wonderful, the hops are quite complex with a light citrus fruit and a light herbal spice to it. The overall taste is a little coarse and balanced out by a nice sweet malt note and a decent hop bitterness to it.

I am not a big fan of the German Pils style but this is a great beer and props to Sam on this new seasonal. (740 characters)

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into an SA glass. Freshness dating noted on the bottle.

A - poured a clear light golden color with a tight head that disappated quickly into a very thin cover.

S - this beer has one of the best aromas of any beer i've had in a long, long time. the hops really jump out with a definite freshness. there is a hint of resin that i picked up, florals, too.

T - a very tasty pilsner. i compare it to Pilsner Urquell in its taste. i detect a bit of black pepper, that really fits, along with some citrus notes.

M - medium bodied, full flavored, some aftertaste that lingers in the back of the mouth, but not overbearing. a good bit of carbonation, but the etching in the glass might have contributed to that.

D - i'm an ale guy, but this pilsner really stood out to me and i like it a lot! this is a brew that i can sit back and partake of many times over because it can double as a session beer and a specialty beer depending on the mood. Good job, Boston Brewery! (994 characters)

12oz bottle poured into Samuel Adams perfect pint glass.

A - Lightly hazy gold with light carbonation. About an inch and a half of foamy white head after pouring right down the center. Light yet lingering lacing. Head gradually fades away.

S - Amazing spicy hoppiness. Noble hops are very evident.

T - Hops are very present upfront but not as bitter as a pale ale or an IPA. A bready maltiness joins in later on and accompanies the hops making for a very well balanced finish. Once the beer is gone, a hoppy essence keeps lingering on the tongue.

M - light smooth body with some carbonation

O - One of my favorite beers. Glad this is no longer a seasonal so I can have some in the fridge year-round. Definitely think this is one of BBC's best beers. (754 characters)

Poured into my pilsner glass and a huge bright white head formed. Very creamy and excellent retention. Head has such nice structure it rises well above the glass. Bright gold/brass color with slow rising visible carbonation.
Beautiful lacing all inside the glass.

Aroma is grassy, spicy, fresh and full of hops.

Very nice pilsner. Kudos to the Sam Adams folks. I need to try this next to a Prima Pils. Fresh, clean, grassy, assertive spicy hop flavors.
Excellent balance here. And by balance, I mean with a nice hop flavor.

Very crisp & refreshing. Delicate carbonation in the mouth.

Excellent beer and a welcome addition to the line-up. (648 characters)

First Review on BA

A: Poured into pilsner glass, nice light, golden, clear, appearance. Nice amount of head, with constant bubbles from the bottom.

S: Hoppy, but not overly. Semi-sweet. Very kind to the nose.

T: Nice comprimise between malt and hops. Very crisp and refreshing, it would be great with grilled chicken/fish.

M: Very good amount of carbonation, without being overly carbonated. Light, not too sticky sweet.

Overall, I am very impressed with this beer. It is a great seasonal brew. I would love to have several after an afternoon of mowing the lawn, or at a baseball game. Or any where. Very impressed. I give it an A. Solid brew. (650 characters)

Served on tap twice i the past week - Leroy Selmons in Tampa, FL, and at a more local joint a few days later.

Color is a golden yellow, very picturesque. Brilliantly clear, low foam. Very sticky on the sides.

Mild but pleasing aroma. some grains in there, blended with the hops. makes me....thirsty.

Taste is clean, crisp, backd by a subtle tasty hop. Basically, everything you'd want in a pils. Believe the hype, this beer delivers.

Nicely balanced carbonation in the mouthfeel. Very pleasing.

Very, very drinkable. One only is difficult. Buy these, buy in bulk. (568 characters)

A - Medium-light golden with creamy white 2 finger head (slow to diminish)
S - Mild citrus hop aroma, light skunkiness. Smells clean and well crafted
T - Tastes clean like a cold pure glass of water (not the flavor of water), very light citrus with hops and mild bitterness on the finish. Very light skunkiness
M - Light, clean, smooth, crisp and carbonated (not overbearing). It has a rich feel to it even though it is light
D - Very drinkable, very smooth, well crafted pilsner...my favorite so far. I could drink it all day

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pilsner glass.

This beer pours with head that just hits the top of the glass. The beer itself is a clear golden colour, and extremely carbonated. Looks very refreshing and delicious. The smell is primarily that of noble hops, there's some citrus character and extremely clean, almost transparent malts in the back. It also tastes fantastic. The noble hops impart a great bitter/spicy flavor, along with some transparent bready malts in the back. It's just a perfect tasting pilsner, perfect for the hop heads. Drink it fresh!

The mouthfeel is also perfect here, it's got a slightly thicker mouthfeel than most pilsners, without coating the mouth too much. And the drinkability is off the charts. It's extremely refreshing. It's honestly hard to fault this beer on any level. It's the perfect pilsner. (839 characters)

Had out of a 12oz bottle into a hefe-tulip glass.

A-spongy, fluffy, dense, white head. Very clear golden body.

S-very distinct floral hop aroma.

T-very nice and malty, nice hop flavor in the middle.

M-medium, somewhat slick.

T-Really incredible offering by Sam's. This is what a pils made in America should be. Full of flavor. Spot on. (341 characters)

From someone who doesn't like most, if not any beer, and with family histories (sic), this is probably one that I like the most. I think I'll stick with the Sam Adams brand for a long time.

Because of my limited experience with beer, (most macros tend to make me sick, especially those in an aluminum can), it is hard for me to properly review a beer. The smell is typical of most for me, because I haven't been trained to pick up the nuances from style to style. The taste for me was very good, much more drinkable than a standard lager. It is smooth in the mouth, and is highly drinkable. (592 characters)

Sam Adams has finally produced a masterpiece.

Perfectly balanced. Deliciously hopped with a great pilsener malt flavor and a dry, toasted finish.

Light bodied and not too carbonated.

The minute it hit my mouth I knew I had found a new favorite.

Well done! (262 characters)

Pour: Golden Honey Yellow, Eggshell white head, head is well structured and doesn't dissipate for sometime superb champagne like bubble,

Nose: Frontal floral, hints of both hops and nearly orange peel and grains of paradise. I can get over the hop aroma its delightful!
Mouth: the hop profile is exceptionally well rounded, a light lingering tartness like a good (I)PA. Little grapefruit, little orange, bubbles remain in 'pour' proportion well into the beer.

I terribly enjoyed this brew. There is no doubt that this beer should be a YEAR ROUND brew! it certainly made me do a double take on the Pils genre. (613 characters)

On tap at Coasters Pub, Melbourne FL.
Pours a bright, clear, straw with a foamy bright white head that leaves a bit of lacing. Very effervescent and clean-looking.
Smell is grassy and mellow, but the hops are definitely there. Maybe not as much as a Victory Prima Pils, but more so than many quality German Pilsners.
This is one tasty pilsner. A crisp hop presence with a strong-enough malt backbone. Good job, BBC.
Drinkability is enourmous. (442 characters)

(Served in a Pokal) enjoy before June
A- This beer has a deep golden yellow crystal clear body with a spongy snow white head that fades to a thick film and last for the full beer. There is a sea of tiny bubbles supporting the head.
S- The fresh smell of Noble green hop pellets has a great depth to it with some woody hints and some earthy hints. It is followed by a soft pale malt wort aroma and a hop finish with mint and oregano qualities. I just can stop sniffing this beer. T- This beer has a soft slightly sweet but dry pale malt flavor that is clean with hints of dough coming through when it warms. The finish is a pine Noble hop flavor with a soft green bite to it.
M- This beer has a light crisp mouthfeel with a dry clean finish and no alcohol heat noted.
D- This beer is crisp fresh and lagered with a great depth to the hops yet still being very drinkable. There were no sulfury flavors and it wasn't thin and watery in any way. I will be getting more of this when summer hits. (994 characters)

A - a light golden color with a slow to dissipate foamy head

S - smells very citrusy and hoppy

T - tastes like it smells: citrus hops

M - light carbonation with a citrus tang to it.

Overall, a great seasonal. I enjoy this very much and recommend it to anyone who wants a proper beer to drink during the spring. Not too light or too strong and it doesnt fill you up. (370 characters)

Poured from 12oz bottle into 19oz pilsner glass.

Appearance: Clear straw color with a medium, quickly dissipateing white head that leaves thick lacing.

Smell: Nutty and earthy aromas are predominant, with some floral and grassy notes. A depth of hops.

Taste: As the smell would suggest, there is a depth of hop flavor. Earthy flavors with herbal hints mostly, with citric notes and light maltiness in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Thinner, crisp body with a sharp carbonation bite. Finish is refreshing and crisp, but dries out some.

Drinkability: An outstanding pils that even beats out many of its European counterparts. Great hop depth and a solid malt backbone make this hoppy, but still pretty well-rounded. Most Samuel Adams beers are very good (or, at the very least, faithful) interpretations of the styles they represent, but this one is exceptional. (857 characters)

Pours gold with a solid, dirty white head. Looks clean and well presented.

Now this is what a pilsner of this style should smell like. Filled with earthy, peppery, leafy noble hops. Very nice.

Taste is hoppy and clean with a grainy malt backing and a honeyish note with lemon and lime citrus. Medium bodied and the finish is dry with a peppery hop spice on the back of the tongue.

I really, really enjoyed this. Normally i'm not too impressed with Sams regular offerings but this was a pleasant suprise. Recommended

Edit: I had to go back and raise my score on this after trying it again a few days later. This beer is great. (629 characters)

A-Beautiful golden color. Nice layer of tightly beaded patchy foam on top. Lacing coats the side of the glass as you drink.

S-This is the most aromatic pilsner I have ever smelled. Lots of fresh cut grass aromas. Spicey hop smells and just a hint of malt.

T-This is very nice. Both the hop and malt flavors come through together strongly. Presenting themselves equally but seperatly. It tastes exactly like it smells with the fresh cut grass but with some lemon and earthy spiceness flavors. The malts shine through just as well. I have never had a beer where the malts have tasted as I what I would percieve to be very fresh. Lots of biscuit and cereal tastes that blends awesomely with the hops. A very nice beer.

M.F.-Carbonation is a bit spritzy and I think this adds to the snapiness of the hops. Strong M.F. for a pils and more like its German counterparts.

Drink- I have bought this a couple of times. It definetly beats any German pils i've had. Taste is very refreshing and interesting. (999 characters)
