Haven't been wild about the other Sam Imperials that I've tried, but this one was pretty darn good. Exceptionally malty, and not as sweet as many other Wee Heavy's but a good beer nonetheless.
Pours deep chestnut and black, with a bit of white. Head is thin, and slightly off white. Nose is very malty, and that's about it - not a lot of the good wee heavy characteristics.
Taste is exceptionally malty again, but with a bit of oakiness. Biggest concern is the lack of fruitiness and brown sugar, otherwise an enjoyable beer. Body is full, and thick, definitely a positive for the style.
