A- Pours like cola into my Great Divide glass. A thin, tan head disappears immediately and leaves just little whisps of lacing around the glass. Nothing much to look at.
S- Smokey, malty sweet, vanilla bean, raisins, dried cherries, and hints of dark chocolate.
T- Smoked peat, chocolate covered caramel bites, toffee, dark raisins, fig jam, freshly scraped vanilla bean, and sweet malts. Damn this is nicely done! Bitter cocoa, sweet dark fruit, caramel and just enough smoke.
M- I love the subtle, smokey notes and the way they hang on the tongue. Nice bitter chocolate melds nicely with the slightly sour/sweet dark fruit... nice caramel/vanilla candy sweetness. Better than I expected.
O- I'm not gonna say this is fantastic... but it's not far off! Subtley smokey, amazing caramel sweetness, nicely cocoa bittered, deep dried fruitiness. So why did it take me this long to try this one? Well done Sam... well done indeed!
