Appearance: Semi-translucent amber with a soapy off-white head. Looks a little dark for an IPA but doesn't look bad at all.
Aroma: Piney hops with a little citrus. Prevalent caramel malt and a little breadyness.
Taste: Getting about half hops and half malt. But the hops don't really hold up their end of the bargain. They lack the citrus burst that really amps up and defines an American IPA. Definitely drinks more like an East Coast or English style. A bit of raisin or dried fruit in there.
Mouthfeel: Good level of carbonation and on the lighter side of medium bodied. Pretty drinkable.
Final Thoughts: American IPA is my favorite style and this beer really isn't doing it for me. It's not unwanted as part of a sampler 12-pack but I wouldn't seek it out on it's own.
