Poured from a 12-oz. bottle into my Terrapin pint glass.
Appearance: Deep amber with a one-finger whitish head, which later diminishes but some foam remains nonetheless. Pretty good lacing.
Smell: The smell reminds me of the old Imperial Pilsner, owing to the German hops. Very floral. Caramel malts are present, too; altogether a delicious smell.
Taste: Completely delivers on what the smell promised. Floral hops, check. Caramel malts, check. What it makes me think of is a stronger version of Boston Lager, stronger in alcohol content and flavor. It isn't a massive wallop of bitterness, but it's really scrumptious, and different from most IPAs I've had.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, well carbonated, kind of creamy.
Drinkability: I'm very happy about this new beer from Sam Adams, and I hope I find this around in the next few months, because I want to keep this on hand. This is a perfect session IPA, because of the delicious, non-extreme flavor and relatively low ABV.
Thanks for another great brew, Boston Brewing Co.!
