this beer is a oange/cooper color-average for an IPA.
the smell kind of hits you when you first open the bottle-metallic (in a good way...believe me) and bitter hops hit you right away.
taste is about 90% hops and 10% malt, to me, its mainly grassy and a little bit of muted grapefruit which intensifies on the aftertaste. very pleasant and what one would expect from an IPA.
mouthfeel is not too bubbly and not to smooth..slightly above average for IPA.
overall, im really pleased with this beer, sam adams is one of my favorite breweries and make good diverse styles of beer. it may not be a stone ruination ipa or dogfish head 120 minute ipa but its a good solid ipa that id drink again, a good IPA thats not too snobby, but something a hopehead would like. think of it as a casual IPA ..not as extreme and palate destroying as stone ruination but still hoppy and flavorful.
worth a try!
as always...still miles ahead of that yellow fizzy stuff made in saint louis
