A hard pour produces a >2cm head of off-white bubbles. Fades to a perpetual 0.5cm cap atop the body, and leaves excellent lacing along the entire glass. Body is dark amber color with orange highlights. Transparent with visible, but lazy, carbonation.
Bright aroma. Mango, peach, grapefruit, mandarin orange and sweet malt upfront, pine in the back. Letting this sit a bit, I get the smell of fresh, hoppy wort.
Opens with fairly sharp malt sweetness that's quickly overtaken by equally sharp hop bitterness. This transitions to a bitter grapefruit rind character that never lessens, but gradually fading a bit to reveal a biscuit and cracker flavor malt backbone along with some of the more complex peach and mango flavors to pull through, but they're still fairly subsumed by the bitterness.
Medium bodied with carbonation that's plentiful enough to make this foam up pleasantly on the palate. Finish is very dry, but also a bit sticky.
I really enjoyed this IPA and thought it hit all the right notes for the style. Why this doesn't get a higher rating, I don't know. Still, this is an easy-to-find pleaser for me and I look forward to having more.
