12oz. bottle into shaker pint on 8/13/11.
A - Poured a clear coppery orange-colored liquid with half a finger of creamy off-white head that reduced to a patchy residue and some splashes of lacing around the perimeter of the glass.
S - Sweet and malty with a toffee character and candied nuts. Hops take a back seat, unfortunately, although a hint of perfume and citrus is apparent. Faint burnt caramel also persists throughout.
T - The IPA possesses a muted hop profile that is hard to decipher. This is definitely a malt-forward IPA. There is a hint of perfume and floral notes in there, but the flavor is somewhat muddy. There is a tinge of earthy hop bitterness in the finish is accompanied by a sweet, somewhat burnt caramel malt character.
M - Medium bodied with a syrupy texture and light carbonation. Bitterness is moderate and lingers for a bit on the palate.
D - Malt-forward IPA that doesn't do much for me, unfortunately. It's not bad, but the hop profile is kind of blah and there is a faint burnt caramel aspect that I'm not really digging.
