hello: latitude 48- the major hop growing regions of america, germany, and england reside here. hooray hops!
appearance: a dark copper. beautifully lingering head, like that one fluffy cloud meandering across an endless summer sky.
smell: hops. i smell hops. good, as it's an ipa. the low-ish rating is for the quality of the sniffer, not the quality of the sniff-ee.
taste: it is certainly one of the maltier ipa's that i have had. which is not to say the hops aren't there. they are, and quite hoppily so, but this is more balanced than most other american ipa hopfests. which is why the maltiness sticks out for me.
mouthfeel: not sticky, just smooth. i find that the more hop-biased ipa's can be a bit "sticky" on the lips; not this one. its like orange coppery velvet.
overall: a good one. i would be very happy to find this on draft somewhere in florida, though i do not hold out any real hope of seeing it ANY further south than say, southie. it's ok, i'll drink it out of my perfect pint glass on the porch all the same.
