Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A- It pours a dark amber, almost brown, color. A one finger head that dissipated quickly presented itself, and there were moderate carbonation bubbles. There was moderate lacing left throughout the glass.
S- Very hoppy scent. a hint of berry, perhaps strawberry, comes through.
T- Nothing stands out other than the lack of anything standing out. The heavy hops appear at first but fade quickly into a metalic taste that might be present in a can of Miller Lite. The scent of berry does not materialize on the tongue.
M- An overwhelming metalic aftertaste almost ruins this beer.
O- This beer comes on nicely at first; its look, smell, and first taste smack of a nice IPA. In fact, I had to go back and lower my first scores. I just could not get past the metalic feel and aftertaste, and the fact that no prominent flavors stood out was disappointing. Nice try by Samuel Adams; someone not familiar with very tasty IPAs might be fooled into thinking this is the real thing.
