12 oz. bottle. Part of the Samuel Adams Hop Tour 6 pack, and this is the third beer of the three, with the highest alcohol content. No bottled on date, poured to a Boulevard tulip.
A - Pours a deep ruby copper color. No head to speak of. Looks more like a red lager or something than it does an IPA. Scattered lacing.
S - Has a nice hop aroma, but it doesn't extend any further than that. No other complexities, just plain old simple hops. Does smell somewhat more earthy than a lot of IPA's, which is unique. Faint hint of distinct lime smell creeps out also, as the beer warms.
T - Again, just plain old simple hop taste. Slightly carbonated, but not so bad that it distracts you from the rest of what you're drinking. Roasted malts also present. Not a bad beer at all, but not much different than the other beers in the Samuel Adams Hop Tour 6 pack. However, this is clearly the most complex beer of the bunch, and probably the best.
M - The mouth feel is thicker than it usually is on Samuel Adams beers. Light, lively hops linger around for a bit, which is nice.
Overall, I would drink it again, but I wouldn't try to seek it out when there are better, more complex, more intense IPA's to be had. I would definitely say this is one of the better IPA outings from Samuel Adams.
