Whats this? A new creation from the Sam Adams Brewmaster Collection Official Laboratories? Sounds exciting! Lets see!
Ugghhhh. Jesus. Hmmm....
Staring at label. They put thought into this. Sounds great. Looks cool. Try again! Ok... Hmmm. Uggg. Still aweful.
Lets review. Some hops are meant to impart a bitter quality to beer. Others are meant to be flavorful. It is quite clear from a quick taste that they have used the former varieties for flavor. Weird. The result is an oily, overwhelmingly bitter, pine. That is all. No delicate balance, no interplay of complexities. Just bitterness. No balance, because there is no complexity to balance!
So aroma, flavor...all missed the boat. Drinkability? Too bitter to enjoy. In fact, it irritates my stomach a little. Just so, so bitter. Lets finish it off- Mouthfeel? None. Watery. No feel. I dont know what the other reviewers are seeing here. This beer is all work and no play.
BEER BROTHERS! I know you're from Bean Town, I know you love Sam Adams...but come on! Can we not be honest that this beer is a dreadful example of an IPA? "Sam Adams has always been concerned with drinkability and with a worldwide market they have to serve balanced beers" Blah blah blah. Bland beers with no complexity under a veil of phony artistry....thats what I'm drinking. Honestly, this is the type of beer that scares people away from IPA's -- and all craft beers -- when they dont know any better. Let's be real about Sam Adams in the future, please and thanks! As you taught me, Respect Beer!

T - Citrus, honey malt,and pine.
M - Medium
O - My favorite from the Hopology Collection. A perfect balance of sweetness and hops without the nasty bitterness. I highly recommend this brew.
