I was a little underwhelmed with this one.
What really ruined this beer for me - is that it's way, way too safe.
It has all of the characteristics of a good IPA, but not enough of each.
first taste has a little choco/grapefruit backbone, but it's practically no backbone. there's nice lacing being left behind, but the beer lacks punch from the hops and lacks that nice skunk nose like some of the really good ipa's.
The one thing I can give this credit for - is that if it's really 6% - it's hides it really well. I mean this basically tastes like a shiner bock with a little extra fuggles - it's definately one of the weaker SA offerings.
won't seek this out.
