I really enjoyed last years Longshot offerings, now that it's come out again this year I had to pick up a sixer.
Pours a nice stray golden, with a two finger white head that had modest retention and good lacing. Oh, and I used a Duvel Tulip.
Aroma was pretty straight forward with yeast and ester being at the forefront, with banana, pepper and citrus lemon hiding underneath it all. Smells slightly sweet.
The taste was somewhat grainy. Yeast and ester where detectable, as well as lemon and pepper, but it just seemed a bit muted. The flavors where there, but just didn't have enough "juice" to make it all stand out. But on the plus side it was very refreshing after a warm summer day here in SoCal.
Mouthfeel was medium, almost light. Perhaps a stronger mouthfeel could have made the flavors shine
Drinkability is good, I have to give it that. Crisp and refreshing, and not to heavy to session.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a half-pint chalice.
A: Slightly hazy, medium golden color with less than one finger of diminishing white foam head. Light lacing remains on the glass.
S: A mixture of esters, crisp phenolics, and Belgian aromatic malt.
T: Begins dry, with strong esters and bready malt. Acidity is restrained into the middle where malt becomes more crisp and crackery. Herbaceous hops emerge in the finish with a thread of savory cooking spices--notably cumin.
M: Thin to medium viscosity, slightly syrupy on the palate, with low carbonation.
D/O: A fairly straight-forward saison, whose dry flavor is undermined somewhat by the syrupy texture. Advertised flavors are well-integrated, practically hidden, although other herbal and metabolite flavors fall within appropriate bounds.
