LongShot Lemon Pepper Saison is very bubbly and refreshing, with an unpleasant metallic finish.
The appearance was where this shined. It was a beautiful blond, with lots of bubbles and a thick white head that left thick rings on the glass. Unfortunately, the head immediately disappeared. The smell was all lemon rind, but the flavor was a two-parter, with lemon rind followed by a very unpleasant metallic aftertaste. Eventually, it seemed to numb the tongue. It felt bubbly and refreshing; however, the finish begged to be followed by a glass of water.
LongShot Lemon Pepper Saison has the look and feel of champagne--lots of bubbles and lots of sparkle. What lingers, however, is rather unpleasant.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a half-pint chalice.
A: Slightly hazy, medium golden color with less than one finger of diminishing white foam head. Light lacing remains on the glass.
S: A mixture of esters, crisp phenolics, and Belgian aromatic malt.
T: Begins dry, with strong esters and bready malt. Acidity is restrained into the middle where malt becomes more crisp and crackery. Herbaceous hops emerge in the finish with a thread of savory cooking spices--notably cumin.
M: Thin to medium viscosity, slightly syrupy on the palate, with low carbonation.
D/O: A fairly straight-forward saison, whose dry flavor is undermined somewhat by the syrupy texture. Advertised flavors are well-integrated, practically hidden, although other herbal and metabolite flavors fall within appropriate bounds.
