A: Very pretty golden color with a light but persistent white head.
S: Similar to a Belgian ale, sweet with extremely faint hints of lemon.
T: Slight lemon taste at the forefront and a definite, but light, pepper aftertaste. It has bits of other citrus too, but I can't quite tell what they are.
M: Very smooth and pleasant. One of the finer points of this brew.
D: Not dry, so again, it's smooth going down.
Overall: Provided to me by the incomparable Wisrarebeer. I'll admit, this was my first saison, and I was nervous given the lemon pepper seal (that's usually a flavor reserved for chicken!). I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and especially the light pepper aftertaste. It's not a beer you can drink all night, but it is a beer you can appreciate. There are a number of subtleties in the taste which are very impressive. Namely, the way the pepper just scratches the surface of your palate. I'd definitely recommend this one to friend's for it's shear uniqueness. It's certainly a good introduction to the saison world!

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a half-pint chalice.
A: Slightly hazy, medium golden color with less than one finger of diminishing white foam head. Light lacing remains on the glass.
S: A mixture of esters, crisp phenolics, and Belgian aromatic malt.
T: Begins dry, with strong esters and bready malt. Acidity is restrained into the middle where malt becomes more crisp and crackery. Herbaceous hops emerge in the finish with a thread of savory cooking spices--notably cumin.
M: Thin to medium viscosity, slightly syrupy on the palate, with low carbonation.
D/O: A fairly straight-forward saison, whose dry flavor is undermined somewhat by the syrupy texture. Advertised flavors are well-integrated, practically hidden, although other herbal and metabolite flavors fall within appropriate bounds.
