Thanks to jzed for gifting this one to me.
Maybe people needed to let this one age a bit. Brewed in 2010 and reviewed in September 2011, I think this interesting brew has been way under rated. Then again, it warms you up pretty quickly so maybe I'm being a little generous and bias since Wienstephaner (the collaborating brewery) is also one of my favourites...
The appearance is a cloudy amber with streams from fine champagne-like carbonation. It has huge aroma of sour cherries and citrus along with exotic fruits (mango/pineapple). Some interesting complexity in the background of the finish... I want to say something like licorice... While the beer is also malty sweet it end with a clean finish due to the slightly sour acidity.
I like the mouthfeel with the fine carbonation, sweetness and finishing acidity. Interesting stuff and under rated. I haven't writted a review in a while but this stuff has inspired me again!

Had this aged bottle well past the enjoy by date - so this may not be entirely fair. Aged 16 months, not recommended 6. Beautiful hazy caramelly, orange color. Nose was Belgian-y, like a quad, and sweet with some alchohol. The champagne bubbles - still enough to overflow the bottle upon popping the cork - strip flavors off the tongue and cut the sweetness. This is good as the flavors are brown sugar, rock candy and malts sweet, again similar to a quad. Overall - glad we tried it, no off flavors from over-aging. It was an experience, not a go-to.
