Admittedly I'm not very knowledgeable on the Kölsch style. But this seems to be the highest rated beer in the SA Summer Variety pack, so maybe it is a style I need to seek out further.
A - Pours a clear white yellow, very similar to a white ale but not hazy at all. Minimal white head that dissipates quickly and minimal lacing.
S - Floral and earthy with a hint of toasted malt. Not very aromatic.
T - Tastes slightly grainy and metallic. Finishes with an earthy, floral taste from the jasmine. Mild citrus notes but not very hoppy, I expected more of the Alsation hops in the taste. Tastes much like a pilsener with slight floral and citrus notes, but very well balanced.
M - Light bodied and well carbonated, very crisp.
O - Overall, this is quite the session beer, but I had wished for more from the Alsation hops. Still, it's a very drinkable summer brew and the use of the jasmine flower is very subtle and delicately done. Probably the most refreshing beer in the summer variety pack thus far, and great for the heat wave we have had recently.
