A- sparkly clear golden color with a dense and poofy white head. retention is a little too strong, i'm thirsty and i wanna dig in. lace is delicate and wispy and there's plenty of it.
S- subdued aroma of clove, banana, bubblegum, melon, and band-aids. wheat and pale malt are also present with an earthy, grainy, and raw character. there are a few barnyard funkies scooting around but not enough to evoke images of rusticity.
T- wheaty and lightly hoppy up front with a dull peppery spice and the yeast flavors fade almost immediately. with nothing left but pale malt and noble hops, this saison has turned itself into something that tastes like a yeasty german pilsner. where's all the funk and fruit? sleepin in the barn somewhere, i guess. finishes with a clean flavor of pale malt and grassy lemony hops.
MF- a bit powdery but for the most part it's enticingly crisp, dry, and thirst quenching. sparkling carbonation softens up for a refreshing apple-juice feel.
D- a decent beer as a whole, but not when measured up to style guidelines. i like it, it tastes good, it has great drinkability, but it is a poor excuse for a saison, especially with the label boasting floral, fruity, and estery flavors.
