Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Best by date reads September of 2011. As a big saison fan, I'm excited that domestic microbreweries have started to produce more belgian style ales. Let's give this one a try...
A - Pours a clear golden color with a bubbly one inch head that dissipates quickly. Lots of lacing around the glass.
S - Spicy and funky, though not overly strong. Coriander and sweet malts.
T - Begins with a sweet and spicy taste of coriander, lemon and green apple, followed by a bitter hop flavor. It's somewhat empty for the style, only giving you a hint of what a true saison should be. Yeasty and spicy on the end with a slightly clean aftertaste. What's here is solid but lacking.
M - Carbonation is a bit below average for the style. Refreshing with a light to medium body.
O - Not a bad saison but not a great one. I wouldn't look for this one again but it was fun to try and a cool addition to their variety pack.
