Had on tap at Fiddler's.
A- Pours a darker brown with amber highlights when held to the light. Two finger creamy tan head shows amazing retention. Tons of thick sheety lacing on the sides of the glass.
S- Big sweet cherry aroma in the front. Light chocolate hints in the middle. Almost a light hint of oak in the middle as well. No real alcohol to this at all.
T- Chocoalte malts dominate the front with hints of caramel malts. Middle shows caramel with light alcohol tones coming through. Hints of faded hops in the ending with chocolate and warming alcohol.
M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is light I thought for the style. Chocolate and caramel malts left on the palate. Aftertaste is mostly cherry and chocolate with the chocolate fading to light oak. Balanced overall with cherry being a little dominate overall. No off flavors except a light metallic hint in the ending. Medium to heavy drying on the palate from the alcohol.
O- This beer was a pleasant surprise overall. I thought the ABV was hidden well overall while drinking this beer. Sam Adams needs to bottle this one. The flavors really were blended well together and this one shows what can happen when Sam Adams takes the time to actually brew.

Poured one and a half bottles into a 1/2 liter stein a deep dark chocolate color with a reddish brown hue,a lighter tan colored head atop, downhill from there.Aromas of maraschino cherries dominate the nose, just artificial and overly sweet.Flavors are cloying and so artificial tasting that it's hard to come up with anything other than sweet as far as a profile goes.It tastes like cherry syrup with a little bit of chocolate.I think Boston Beer Company is a great, and Jim Koch is great, but this beer to me is a slap in the face to craft beer drinkers.

12 ounce bottle, with enjoy before dating notched onto the side of the lable.
Pours dark mahogony brown, moderate medium khaki head , that quickly departs leaving next to no film, a thin collar and just a thin tongue of lace here and there.
Bright and pungent cherry nose, with a hint of chocolate in the rear.
Cherry fruityness, dark maltyness and chocolaty sweetness, provides decent complexity and intrigue. Not bad stuff, sort of a poor mans craft winter warmer thats amped up with a load of cherry notes.
Not subtle in its approach, but I'll bet this would work just fine with a chocolate dessert on a cold winters night

Appearance: 1 inch head, high carbonation, dark brown in color, clear
Smell: cherry soda, cocoa, and dark chocolate
Taste: dark chocolate, cocoa, dark cherry, and slight milk chocolate
Mouthfeel: medium-heavy body, sweet, rich, moderate carbonation
Overall: A good beer but not a great one. I find this to b the best of the new offerings in the winter pack and I hope they bring this back. That said it is like a mixture of their cherry wheat and chocolate bock, but does not work as well as either of those beers, which I adore. I think O'Fallon has a tastier version of a cherry chocolate bock, but this one is still fairly good.

Appearance- no problems here
Smell- clear cherry smell, probably a bit overwhelming to some but I personally like cherry
Taste- Tasted like cherry cough syrup... absolutely disgusting. I don't know how anyone could like the taste. The chocolate tried to mask the overwhelming cherry flavor but couldn't for me at least.
Mouthfeel- Smooth enough, no problems there.
Overall- I was a few sips in and really didn't even want to finish it.

Served in the Sam Adams glass this beer has a weak tan head that dissipates quickly. Brown with garnet highlights and clear. Aromas of cherry and chocolate for sure. A bit of a cola aroma. Taste is chocolate cherry cola-weird. Weak on grainy malts or hops this beer is high on carbonation and weak in body given the ABV. A fairly easy beer to drink-recommended for someone looking for a beery cherry cola. A sweet dessert beer.

12oz bottle at fridge temp poured into a snifter. Best before APR 2014 notched.
Pours out nearly pitch black, actually a really dark brown color, very short lived head even straight off of the pour, fixed to nothing within a minute. Lots of rising carbonation bubbles.
The aroma is almost entirely maraschino cherries, smells artificial. hard to get much else, maybe hints at chocolate.
Cherry is a big part of the taste, but there's more complexity than the aroma suggests. Maraschino cherry, sweet toasted, lightly roasted malt, hints of dark chocolate.
Body is lighter side of medium, it could definatly use some more body to stand up to the big flavors here. Carbonation is just a bit much at times.
Definatly a sweet desert beer, for me the flavors are just a bit too artificial.

Churchill's Pub & Grille
San Marcos, CA
Nearly black in color with nearly no head and very little stick to the glass. The beer looks somewhat thin.
The aroma is a bit strange; yes, there's chocolate, yes there's some cherry, and yes there's some roasted malt, but it doesn't quite come together as nicely as it sounds on paper. The cherry flavor seems somewhat artificial, perhaps like a (cough) syrup.
The flavor has similar failings: the cherry flavor doesn't come together particularly well and doesn't accentuate any of the positives present in this beer. The roast character is very mild, dominated by artificial chocolate and cherry flavors.
Thin to medium bodied with moderate to high carbonation.
I wasn't a fan of the Chocolate Bock or now this Chocolate Cherry Bock. Apparently, they just aren't for me. That being said, the ice cream Churchill's Pub & Grille made using this ice cream was fantastic.
