this is a pretty good ipa- it has less citrus than others- which i think makes it stand out. there is an interesting sweetness in the nose and the taste has a slight coffee bitter to me. over all i like it a good bit. i cant get this where i live- it was a gift from a friend that went to boston- which makes me kinda sad, cause its a good one.

12oz bottle, I had lower expectations for this one going in, but still interested in trying it
L - creamy ivory head atop an amber colored ale, good head retention
S - earthy, floral, and fruity with plenty of caramel and bready malt
T - very earthy, floral, apricot (as the label indicates, and is actually more prominent than expected), caramel, bread crust
F - smooth and fuller bodied, finishes very dry and moderately-bitter
O - I'm glad they start you with this one, because I expect the rest to be better. I understand why this is listed as an American IPA. But it's actually more like an English IPA, and if you drink it as such, it's more enjoyable. I'll take it for what it's worth - a fun way to try the different hops.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a DFH IPA glass.

A: Golden clear, with a fine white head and gentle effervscence.

S: Strong caramel malt. Hint of dried apriot. Not very aromatic.

T: The damn label has got me looking for apricot everywhere, but it's not wrong. Otherwise, not very remarkable, hop-wise. Vegetal bitterness on the aftertaste. This is actually pretty pleasant, if on the sweeter side for 'IPAs'.

M: Thick, almost sticky mouthfeel. Interesting and worthwhile.

O: Interesting take, but not my favourite. More hops, please. (I think this is why they numbered them; to proceed by bitterness.)
