Pours amber in color with nice off-white, sticky head. Aroma is sweet. I feel there is biscuity sweetness from malts and fruity sweetness from the East Kent Goldings hops. Definitely some apricot notes. I like how the hops provide a nice floral and fruity aroma without being in your face. Taste is similar. Biscuity malty base provides support for hoppy bitterness. Hops are not overpowering. In fact bitterness only comes across fully in the aftertaste. Very drinkable (again especially if you like bitterness to linger). Medium-light body. I find that these hops by themselves are not enough for a balanced IPA.

This is my first beer of the Boston Beer's Latitude 48 IPA set. At first I wanted to taste and compare all in one session, but six IPAs in a row is beyond my abilities. So I think I'll settle on three days of two beers each. I look at it as an experiment, so my grade reflects general opinion of a version (as opposed to grading to style). I am enjoying being able to try the same base beer with different hops.

My favorite out of the single hop offerings in this Deconstructed series. Very floral aroma sets up what could classify as a tasty english style esb or pale ale.

Nice hop oils on the taste with an earthy impression....also get hints of mint, and lemon zest...combined with the malt it comes off more buttery and minerally than the others.

Enjoyable beer to drink but not a west coast IPA if that is what you want.

Like some others in this "Deconstructed" 12er, I thought this was a slightly above average IPA, definitely nothing special. It poured a true IPA color, good copper look to it with kind of a mild head. This supposedly has an apricot flavor to it that I wasn't really getting, just a duller hop flavor, and more floral than apricot.

Poured from a bottle into a nonic pint.

A - Pours a crystal clear copper with a two-finger, off white head. Decent amount of patchy lacing.

S - Caramel malt, and a little spicy hop. Smells a lot more like a pale ale than an IPA.

T - Tastes more like a pale ale as well, as the East Kent Goldings really don't cut through the base beer. What hop taste does come through is a lot of lemon zest, some white pepper, thyme, and rose petal, but it's the base beer caramel malt bill that comes through the strongest and it's average at best.

M - Light bodied, with standard Sam Adams prickly carbonation. Wet finish.

O - Hops don't stand up well to the base beer. A really weak IPA in all aspects. Not truly an IPA in my opinion.

Poured into my trusty pint glass. Thick head not bad. Goldent to dark golden color not bad. Taste the apricots is the best of the flavors, but this beer is a bit of a disappointment was expecting hopier and fruiter You can smell the apricots so that's a plus
