I don't often drink Samuel Adams beers. I used to when I first started getting into better beer because they brew a wide variety of styles. That's a great positive for Samuel Adams. When I walked into my usual place and was told the 12 pack of the Latitude 48 IPA "Deconstructed" was $14...I had to buy it. Hopefully as I drink the different beers using different hops my palette will be good enough to tell the difference. :P
This is a damn good-looking brew. The head is thick, creamy-foamy, and off-white. It also keeps its retention well. Each gulp leaves some good lacing. Underneath is a clear, copper-colored beer.
It's a bit phenoly (yes, that's a word) but lemon citrus and grain come out strong. Tropical fruits make a presence as well.
The hops aren't overly bitter but are pretty citrusy. Toasty malts come in there too with some caramel sweetness. It's a bit piney too.
Medium carbonation adds some bite. It's a bit syrupy and smooth at the beginning but the finish is dry.
