Appearance: a beautiful clear orangish amber in color with an ample head that lasted a long time. Plenty of lacing on glass.
Smell: sweet , fruity, piney and floral.
Taste: caramel malt nicely balanced with a citrusy hop component that turns more piney and bitter in the finish - a excellent dynamic flavor profile that almost earns a 4.5
Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Crisp throughout with a notably dry finish.
Overall: As a fan of standard Latitude 48 (my BA rating is an A), I was surprised to like this single-hop version about as much. While lacking some of the complexity of the 'regular' version, this one is quite appealing and provides a drier feel. I'll keep an eye open for beers made with this fine if unfamiliar "newer variety" of hops from the Yakima Valley (WA).
