You can definitely taste the difference between the American hop versions and English hop versions of this beer in the variety mix pack. This one definitely has a different aroma and taste from the Hallertau Mitterfrueh version I just had. It has a piney, orange peel floral smell exactly how it's described on the bottle. This smells similar to the original Latitude 48 IPA as well. They definitely used this one as an aroma hop in the original version plus a bittering hop as well. It has a nice crisp hop bite with the sweetness bready caramel malt and ending with the a citrus and pine bitterness that builds and lasts maybe even more so than the original Latitude 48 version.
These beers taste different from the different single hop versions in the variety pack but always have that one particular taste you'd get in the original version. This is a very good example of an American hoppy beer. If they lowered the roasted malt this would be even more bitter.. but with Samuel Adams they still balance the high alpha American hop with the classic Samuel Adams malts. Very nice single hopped beer that could stand pretty well on its own as a release.
