Pour: Classic stout deep brown, almost black. Touches of red on the edges. Two and a half fingers of tan heal with good retention and nice streaks of lacing.
Smell: Smells like coffee. Not much else going on, mind you. Light aroma of roasted malt, but nothing too exciting.
Taste: Tastes, well, like coffee, and stale coffee at that. A little bit of roasted malt sweetness and mocha as well, but the backbone is rather bland. The coffee just overpowers everything.
Mouthfeel: Rather on the thin/watery side. Medium to high in carbonation.
Drinkability/Overall: I can pound these away, but wouldn't be very excited to. A rather lackluster performer, and though it is palatable, it's not very interesting.
Final Notes: Not really a fan. About the only thing really great about this beer is the look. There are better stouts to be had, and in my opinion this is Sam Adams' worst attempt at a stout. I'll drink it to get rid of the mixed pack, but I wouldn't buy a sixer of it.

A: Pours a dark, black with a short lived dark tan head.
S: Very malty aroma with no hop aroma. Lots of dark fruit, raisin. good amount of chocolate and coffee. Some alcohol notes in the aroma.
T: Big burst of coffee and cream with a chocolate hit soon after with a bit of raisin. Black coffee makes up the bulk of the aftertaste with a mild black olive note . No hop flavor to speak of. The alcohol is hidden well and it has a slight acidic bite. Finishes dry.
M: Medium full body almost chewy with low carbonation.
O: This is a decent stout. Big coffee flavor but for me a little too big, It lacks something, perhaps a complexity that other stouts have. It's definitely a beer that I would have no problem sitting back with on a cold winter night.
