Pours a dark red, clear liquid. A slight amount of carbonation, but a huge fluffy cream-colored head that looms large throughout the whole drink.
Smell is dominated by good citrus and pine hops. Good grapefruit aroma.
Taste starts with strong malty tastes. Good caramel and roast malts. Malt tastes move into nice hops at the end. Very earthy notes of pine and less grapefruit than the smell.
Mouthfeel has a medium thickness. Smooth and crisp. Very refreshing.
Drinkability is great on this brew. A lot of nice taste and good balance makes this a really drinkable beer. Something for everyone on this. Tasman Red IPA is a great selection that you should seek out. Good for any season. If this is a sign of things to come with Sam Adams 22oz'ers, I am excited!
