A - Murky ruby brown color. Full, creamy, thick, smooth off-white head. Good retention leaving a thin layer of lace.
S - Lots of toffee along with some juicy grapefruit providing a candy sweetness. Some earthy and herbal hops with notes of dried tobacco. Nice mix of sweet and herbal/earthiness.
T - More herbal than the nose with the sweetness underlying those earthly tones. Herbal tea hops, dried tobacco leaf, and earthy flavors are strong to start before giving way to toffee sweetness. Touches of ruby grapefruit (not particularly sweet though). Some caramel as well. Finishes with a nice balance of herbal and slightly sweet.
M - Medium body with average carbonation. Sticky and slightly drying on the finish.
D - Really tasty with a great mix of flavors that compliment each other wonderfully. Not a thirst-quenching IPA but a satisfying sipper.
Notes: Not a traditional American IPA. Drinks more like a a great herbal Red Ale that is a great sipper. Wonderful herbal notes with earthy tones. Nice grapefruit hop kick and plenty of toffee flavor from the malt. Everything works very well together and make an interesting and enjoyable beer (although not a typical IPA). Quite enjoyable.
