Aggressive pour into a snifter. A big willowy tan head with tight bubbles that look sticky as the ickiest icky. Deep brown until held up to the light, where there is a dark ruby appearance. Very nice. Head dissipates to a small blanket with super thick walls forming a ring on the glass.
aroma starts with some nice citrus hops. sweet smelling malts, caramel, a bit of spring cut grass and a tail end of pine.
starts with an immediate hop flavor that rolls quickly into a citrus hop flavor. sweet malts carry the flavor, with a bit of blackberry sweetness and caramel. Finishes with a bitterness blazed by grapefruit and pine hops. The bitterness isn't overbearing, just about right.
Good mouthfeel, and one of the fullest bodies I've had in a beer in a while. There is no part of this beer that is without some type of flavor, very well balanced too.
A very nice beer that truly is a winner. Great all around, drinkable yet higher than many other ipas. Flavor and balance with a great hop to boot, a fresh one of these is great for turning on those scared by hops.
