Appearance: Pours a clear orange gold color with a small 1/4" head of small off-white bubbles after a pretty aggressive pour. There were lots of bubbles rising initially, but they didn't really stick once they got to the top, so the head fell to a small ring within about 45 seconds. There is a little bit of lacing left on the glass after drinking, but it is just in little wisps coming vertically down the side of the glass.
Aroma: I just tried the Tasman beer, so the aroma of this one is actually mild in comparison. The American hops are definitely there as is some mild caramel malts, but overall it is reserved in comparison to the other one, so I will come back to it as it warms. The aroma stays pretty much the same with lots of American hops and a little bit of sweet caramel mixed in there.
Taste: The flavor is also a little mild for the style, which I like. It has some defined hops in here, but they actually let some of the malt characteristics shine through. There are some toasty notes and some mild caramel that comes out in the middle of the profile, and then the finish turns bitter again to stay that way to linger after the sip. There is a little bit of the alcohol noticeable as the beer sits, adding some spice and definitely flushing my cheeks a bit (Probably from the hops too). Overall the body is medium, and the carbonation is ample in the mouth though it isn't really visible any more.
Opinion: This is a pretty good DIPA. It actually finishes with SOME sort of balance, which is more than I can say for many in this category. If you are into hoppy beers, I would definitely say that you should give this one a "day in court". Otherwise, I would say that this is good for another beer review, but I don't think that I will be trying it again anytime soon.

Color- light red amber. Medium head.
Aroma- crisp winter night in the pine forest.
Taste- starts silky with a balance of butter and hops with grapefruit jolly rancher candy notes finishing with a Dogfishhead butteryness.
Poured from 355 ml bottle into a Liefmans Goudenband glass (my preferred all purpose beer tasting glass). Tasted March 2013.
