Sampled at Buffalo Wild Wings, Houston Airport
The beer arrives from the tap with a creamy, pale head. It is quite hazy with a gold amber color; it actually looks a lot like a hefeweizen. The aroma smells like unscented detergent (probably the glassware and the fact that this is way too cold), there is a touch of dried grassy grain, and some pale cracker like malt notes. After warming up a bit some earthy, herbal hop spiciness starts to become noticeable, but this never really gets very aromatic.
The taste is quite cold; it has a crisp hop bitterness and bite to it in the finish that is contributed by both the hop character and the effervescent carbonation. Light herbal flavors are here, and this is slightly hay like, with a clean spiciness. There are cracker like malt notes, and this has a touch of earthiness to it, as well as a nice fresh pale malt character.
This beer was served way too cold, which given the location was not completely unexpected. Still this is fairly enjoyable, and definitely serviceably quaffable. It definitely gets more flavorful and complex as it warms up from frigid initial serving temperature.
Serving type: on-tap
