Availability: Spring

Notes/Commercial Description:
Borne of our brewers’ many trips to Germany, Alpine Spring features a unique blend of lager attributes: the balanced maltiness and hoppiness of a Helles, the smoothness and slightly higher alcohol of a traditional spring bock, and the unfiltered appearance of a Kellerbier. The beer is brewed with Noble Tettnang hops to add a unique, bright orange-citrusy aroma and flavor.

Grabbed a case of these on sale at the local grocer for 12 bucks.

Pours a hazy golden/orange with a soapy head that slowly sits down leaving a heavy, sticky lace in its wake.

Aroma is pretty pedestrian with just a hint of biscuit, honey, and citrus delicately poking its way through.

Taste is, up front, very notably honey and a smattering of lime. The tettnang hops are very noticeable, but the generous honey flavor ensures that this beer starts and stays balanced. Towards the end it begins to smooth out into a yeasty, bready finish that snaps clean. Extremely refreshing!

Mouthfeel is dense and chewy but not overly so. Feels "wholesome".

This is a fantastic beer that may not get the praise a beer this balanced deserves. I'll be buying another case or two of this before the spring is over.

Light yellow gold, a little hazy, topped by tightly whipped snow white cream.

Aroma is a fresh spring meadow, with a lemon grove nearby.

Light sweetness hits the tongue fleetingly, followed by a surprisingly aggressive hop bite. Lemon in the finish.

Slightly prickly mouthfeel.

An ok spring lager, but I'd prefer Noble Pils or the kolsch Spring Ale from a few years back.
