A: thin white head on a cloudy golden with a slight orange hue body. some lacing

S: very floral and grassy with a subtle citrus note.

T: pale malts with a floral, herbal and mild pine flavor with dominating lemon citrus notes.

M: medium body and moderate carbonation.

Overall: not too bad. the lemon notes provide but lemon custard sweetness and sour notes. A good one to try.

Almost grabbed a sixer, but saw singles so I opted for a variety. Lets see if I made a good choice...

Well, right of the bat I'm not digging the color. Color is more of a medium to muddy orange color. The lack of clarity is refreshing, but it's just to dark. While the head was nice, spongy and pillowy, a bit too cream colored. It is a good looking IPA, which is the style it's listed as, but I know they were shooting for a "White IPA", so it really should have looked more like a Witbier...like the BLVD Collab 2, for example. There's your bar right there, BBC.

The aroma had a nice little spice note to it, with some breadiness, citrus and some grassy, almost floral hop notes. The nose wasn't in-you-face, but it was overall nice. There were minor hints of pine and caramel.

More of that Wit comes through in the taste, thankfully. It's got a nice wheaty malt presence, with some spices, citrus, lemon peel and an early, grassy hop character.

The feel was a bit medium bodied, with a creaminess. Felt a little heavy. Could have had a tad more carbonation.

In the end, it's really a middle-of-the-road kinda beer; not bad, but I don't think I'd seek it out again.

August is notched on the label.

Huge and persistent head of foam, the norm for Sam Adams brews, it's a hazy orange colour.

It smells very bitter. Pine and citrus there but if I whiff real hard, there's a bit of a malty sweetness there as well. Low on any spicing that I got in the Chainbreaker.

The taste is of pine, some citrus, hint or 2 of malt, no spice, pretty one dimensional but it tastes pretty good. At least for 1 bottle at 1 sitting. I don't have a desire to go back to back.

The mouthfeel is excellent but again, 1 and done. A good effort by SA but not quite where I had hoped it would go.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Pours cloudy plae bronze with some amber. Flecks of ediment float around. Ring of white lacing. Subtle pine smell. Light fruitiness. Grassy citrus pine bitter open with a tart/sweet combo throughout. I read from the label this is the apricots - really contributes to the flavor profile. Overall a very tasty and interestingly blended IPA.

- White ale with apricots spices and hops. Enjoy by 8/12, consumed 4/12.

A: Tangerine orange is dense in clarity with a marshmellow head that stands ½ finger high but shows some resilience. Thin skim band of lace.

S: Bright apricots and oranges, are fresh along with a lemony grapefruit zing. Soft sweet pineapple, fruity, sweet and hoppy.

T: Tart, dry wheat base for flavor, dry pine, with a respectable amount of hops. Lemony hops leaves a dry grapefruit pulp zing along with some tart oranges. Lingering dry hop finish. Nice mixture, smooth flow, not overwhelming, but subtle.

M: Nice tingle of carbonation, malty dry medium bodied that turns a frothy wash on long holds.

O: Goes down smooth, tart, dryness of a white with some good hop awareness, but more on level of a pale. Found myself repeatedly reaching for my next sip on this one. Not a big hop bomb, but rather a smooth light and tart summer white-ipa drinker which is what this should be rated and considered as.

Thanks to Eric for gifting me with a bottle of this. Poured into a SA sensory glass, the brew appears a clouded color of yogurt-like yellow with some more orange coloration towards the center. A frothy white cap appears and slowly fades leaving a webbing of white lacework on the glass.

The aroma of this brew is initially spicy with some herbal hop inclusion and something almost along the lines of peppercorns. All of this I take in before a slight touch of sulfur and a big fruity inclusion of apricot as expected based on the list of ingredients. As more sniffs are taken, there is a bit of something almost along the lines of onion thrown into the mix as well as some grainy character. As the brew goes beyond ideal, I pick up on some hints of coriander and a lemony essence.

The taste is bitter with herbal hops. Just like the aroma hinted towards, there is a spicy character of pepper that has an earthy touch that moves towards the hint of onions like the aroma showed towards the back. The herbal bitterness of the hops lasts on the tongue with a bit of pine and fruity pulp. There is a bready wheat backing to this brew that keeps everything well rounded.

This is a medium to light bodied brew with a moderate amount of carbonation. For less than 6% alcohol, it is not hidden at all. This is a unique arrangement of flavor here and was quite an unexpected experience. I was somewhat anticipating the old usual fruity ipa but there was some strange stuff included in this one that really mixed things up and kept it interesting. Was it the best ipa I had in a while? No. However, it is unique enough to give it a try if given the chance.

Pours a cloudy orange color with nice head and good lacing.

Smell is wonderful. Lots of fruity apricot aroma. A very nice floral aroma from the hops as well with pine and citrus. Smells very much like the description on the bottle.

Taste has a maltiness with a nice amount of citrus and pine flavor with a spiciness that makes a nice tingly sensation on the tongue. There is some fruitiness present as well, but not as much as the aroma would have me expecting. Nice hoppy bitterness on the finish.

Mouthfeel is pretty smooth and drinkability is great. Overall pretty good. I am not much of a fan of IPA styles, but this one I enjoyed very much.

Pours a hazy golden color with a big, white foamy head. Beautiful.

Big citrus and pine hop aroma. Almost tropical fruity with hints of apricot.

I can taste the apricots, which add a nice detail to the big hop flavors. Quite bitter and on the dry side, rather than being a sweeter IPA.

Creamy body is very nice.

Overall this is an exceptional beer from the experts at Samuel Adams. Hop fans, seek this out.

This has got to be one of the most underrated brews Sammy A has put out.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Color is hazy orange straw. Holding up to the light you can see flakes or pieces of what I can only assume to be (after reading the label) either apricots or spices floating in this beer.

The aroma is pretty divine in this brew. A lot going on here. Strongly citrus with a mild-spicy clove scent in the background. I kept smelling a light, almost "fresh pie" smelling fruit in the nose, so I quizzically read the label and noted the "brewed with apricots" description. Intriguing!

Taste is so well balanced its stunning. The citrus hops blend in with the wheat & apricot flavors beautifully and the whole beer is just a pleasure to drink.

Mouthfeel is very oily and full, yet leaves you feeling refreshed. A great summertime beer.

I can't really adequately describe it; I think there's just a lot more to this beer than the Bro's noted on their first go 'round. Its just so well balanced. Its not simply an IPA, and if you go in thinking its going to be just an IPA, the wheat's subdued characteristics will make this beer seem underwhelming.

Its nice to see Sam Adams making some more "extreme" beers; or at the very least, breaking out of the mold of styles. I hope this gains the same popularity as noble pils. Alas, I feel that because its called an IPA, it will never gain that status.

Should have named this something else, because this fantastic beer is not getting the rep it deserves.
