Live review. Poured from a 12 oz. bottle that I bought as a part of a Sam Adams "Summer Seasonals" case from Sam's Club a few weeks ago into a clean, clear glass. "Best by" date of Aug 2012 so I am good.

A Slightly copper but mostly yellow translucent body under an all too brief white head that lacks depth in my opinion. I was hoping for a least a nice creamy "Belgian" head. 2.5

S Distant belgian yeast and weak malt smell. meh.. 2.5

T Nice Belgain yeast taste and lightly roasted malt. I might think of referring someone to this beer as a reference for the Belgian yeast taste but not much else. 3.0

M Pretty thin, just some light sweetness. That is to style but it is rather forgettable. 3.0

D/O Drinkability is pretty good and overall it is about an average example of the style. Sometimes I think that it is actually a parody of the Belgian style that it is an example of...kind of a poor man's Belgian Pale Ale. For that, I will drop it down from average to below average. 2.5

Notes: To think that this beer is the same style as Orval should show you how far removed from that level of greatness that this beer is.

LOOK: Bright golden/amber, touch of haze, thin white lace.

SMELL: Fresh toasty bread, light bubble gum, floral hops, faint tropical fruits.

TASTE: Crisp carbonation, creamy, light on the palate, dry upfront, bitter, lemony, apple-y, toasty malts, biscuity, dry, yeasty, tea-like linger.

Not too shabby. Reminds me of some of the first basic Belgian Pale Ales I had in my early beer geek days. No frills, but it's got some flavorful and quite drinkable. Wish it was a tad bit cleaner on the finish though.

Shared at bu11zeye's 10,000th rating tasting.

The beer pours a yellowish color with a white head. The aroma is fairly fruity with a lot of orange and lemon notes, with a little bit of malt and some yeast thrown in. The flavor is similar, with a nice wheat malt backbone, with some grain and some orange also present. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Fairly straightforward. Nothing offensive, but nothing really stands out.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Amber with a thin white head. No lacing on the glass.

Smell: Cloves, wheat and hops.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Taste of cloves with light hops.

Overall: Ok brew. Not my first choice.
