Pours a brilliantly clear copper color with a one inch ivory head that dissipates somewhat quickly, leaving spotty lacing.
Aroma is citrusy, with substantial belgian yeast character and esters of banana. There's a fairly sweet maltiness and a bit of alcohol evident.
Flavor is supported by a somewhat neutral bready malt. Muted grapefruit underlies the profile, with lots of belgian yeast fruitiness. There's a bit of funk leading into a fairly dry and slightly bitter finish. Floral hops and clove emerge as it warms.
Body is moderate, with moderate carbonation and a bit of astringency.
Overall, a very interesting brew from SA. Bitter hops cut the flavor a bit short and leave a slightly unpleasant earthy taste, reminiscent of cardboard rather than good hop bitterness.
