A - Pours an orange-straw, mild haze. Very thick smooth white head that slowly gives way to clumpy lacing.

S - Coriander. Munich malts. Noble hops. The Ocean.

T - Coriander. Sweet malts. Fruit. Munich malt. Way, way in the finish through to the aftertaste almost a marshmallow sweetness.

M - Light-medium. Soft.

O - A really simple (at first glance and taste) beer that is uniquely drinkable. Softer than one might imagine.

A: Deep copper with an unusual orange/pink hue. Off white foam dissipates quickly to a small sticky ring that left sticky foam dots. Lightly carbonated.

S: Slight hop with orange rind. Alcohol. Sweet and salty. With a hint of strawberry. Mild malt and caramel. My wife said it smelled like pee... I disagree.

T: Sweet. Only mildy tangy from restrained hop. Some smoothe mellow malt and caramel flavored grain. Slight strawberry, watermelon and cherry flavor with a juicy mouthwatering feeling. Finishes slightly sweet but with mild tanginess and saltiness.

M: Thin. Thirst quenching and refreshing. Finishes fast. Very clean and smooth. Almost no dryness.

O: Not quite what I expect for a gose, but still quite tasty. It hits some of the qualities, but its very mellow; I could have used a little more risk here. Still, one of the more enjoyable beers from Sam I've had.

gose, one of those really rare styles.. salt in beer?? man was I skeptical before I tried the style, it is actually weirdly refreshing, so let's see how sammy adams version stacks up

eyes...
nice full finger of white foam, a whispering audio component, light orange clean hue with a good amount of carbonation streaming up the glass, near perfect lacing as this clings beautifully to the glass with a simple tilt and as you consume... nice

nose...
slightly dry and musty, the coriander is the star here - it is out front just like chuck schumer and any news cameras within a 15 mile radius, the hops lend a tender herbal aroma, the malt is detectable and lies underneath bathed in a subtle sweetness, smells on point for the style

taste etc...
the coriander is very up front here, the salt shines in the aftertaste especially when the hops run their course, it has that dry marshmellow-ish tone like weistephaner but not as strong (and tempered by the strong coriander), it has a hardier body than the other couple of gose I have tried, the carbonation is right where it should be - kind of just fluffy enough but not interfering in any way

verdict?
a little too heavy and not enough salt, I never thought I would type that about a beer... to me, sometimes a style is a certain way for a certain reason, so I think putting your own twist on a gose might not be the best direction. this does not come off as refreshing as the other goes beers I have had, it is worth a try for the sheer novelty if you have never had salt in your beer

The pour at first glance can be mistaken for a Pilsner, except for being a shade darker, and with more bubbles. As ordinary as the pour looked, the way the beer smelled was anything but. Even from an arm's length, there was a sour, floral, and mineralized smell coming from the glass, which intensified when brought nearer. This was clearly not an ordinary Pilsner. The taste stayed true to the style, but was lighter than others of the type I've had, which sadly has been only a couple. This was a bit more tame in acidity and salt, and little sweeter. Not a bad taste at all, mind you, just not all that it should be. Light and crisp on the palette, but again softer, and lacking that Gose edge. I don't mind having had this bottle, and it is certainly different than Sam Adams typical fare, but I much prefer the real German bottle, or that fantastic recreation by Westbrook more.
