12oz bottle, another cog in the summer Sam Adams mixed-pack. Isn't a radler supposed to be an equal blend of fruit juice and beer? I haven't yet cracked this one, and already the sniff test comes up funky.

This beer pours a clear, bright medium golden yellow colour, with two fingers of wanly puffy, tightly foamy, and almost urinal cake-like dirty white head, which leaves a few swaths of melting coral reef lace around the glass as things duly subside.

It smells of semi-sweet lemon/lime extract, as opposed to the actual juice, faint pale grainy malt, and an ever more ethereal straw-like hoppiness. The taste is more beer-forward that I might have been expecting, the gritty pale malt riding large in the saddle, equal, if not superceding the reined-in generic, and plainly angling for the tart side of things, lemon-lime 'flavour', with some hard to discern, but all the same detectable bland hop bitterness.

The carbonation is moderate, in a basic frothy sort of manner, the body medium-light in weight and generally smooth, with a certain soda-esque astringency. It finishes off-dry, the lemon/lime (can't seem to come up with a proper portmanteau for this) essence still carrying the day, for better or for worse.

Not a bad-tasting lemon-lime (gah, I'm getting tired of writing that) flavoured German-style lager, however, its plainness puts it up against the full fruity beers out there, as opposed to the simple half-and-halfs of the proclaimed style. Nothing really worth seeking out, for that reason, and instantly forgettable.

Sampled last night on 6/24/14. Good to "October, 2014' on the side of the label. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a Sam Adam's pilsner glass.

Pours a golden honey in color with a thin white head that leaves some spotty lacing when sipped. Good carbonation. The aroma is of of hops/grains with citrus. The taste is the same with some floral in the mix as well and ends of a strange tangy finish from the lemon. Overall, it was just OK.

Would be a much lower rating except my wife liked it, so at least the two bottles from the Sam Adams variety pack didn't go to waste. Lemonade beer is definitely not my thing.

A: amber/gold in a tall glass.

B: lemon/citrus.

T: lemon/citrus with very little carbonation.

M: Eh.

O: Whenever I get a bottle of Miller or InBev mass-produced beer, I typically add lemon or lime juice to make it palatable. SA Porch Rocker tastes pretty similar and goes down smooth on a hot day. Not offensive-tasting but not tasty either, just an easy-drinking beer that reminds me of light beer with lemon. Although I've never understood the point of the Germans taking good beer and diluting it with lemonade to create a Radler.

A- Pours a very clear golden yellow. Very little head though, and what little there is does not stay around for the tasting. Gentle continuous flow of carbonation bubble flowing up the side of the glass.

S- Depending on what kind of a beer guy (or gal) you are this is a smell you will either love it or hate it. Lemonade citrus. Some would say there is not place for that in a beer but I tell you what, I like it. It's refreshing to the senses and just brings a smile to your face as you imagine a summer evening watching the sun go down. Just relaxing.

T- Citrus floral notes with lemon zest. There is a bit of a metallic undertone to it.

M- good all around balance. easy to drink.

O- A bit lacking in the flavor but still enough to keep the relaxation in motion on a hot summer day. Sit back and drink em down. Can hold up enough to drink a couple.

Thought this would be a great beer like the summer ale for the summer. Everything is there but very lack luster. this is the only Sam Adams that is a pour and drain. Very disappointed in this beer in thinking this would go along with the summer ale for my summer beers
