A- Pours an ever so slightly hazed golden color, and appears to have plenty of carbonation. The head isn't that impressive at first, being maybe about half a finger thick, but it retains very well, virtually staying the same for 5 minutes before eventually settling into a foamy film over the brew. As for lacing, it is there but in a subtle fashion.
S- Fruity and spicy best describes this beer. There are hints of orange and grapefruit zest, along with other citrus such as lemon-lime. The spices consist of cloves, sweet ginger, and cinnamon. Underlying all of this, is a very mild floral aroma. Hops are muted but present on the finish.
T- Overall, I find the flavor to be subdued. It is mainly characterized by sweet malts and soft vanilla, balanced with zesty citrus notes. I didn't really notice much in terms of spice, but I do find this to be refreshingly tasty....just not quite what I was expecting for a Wit.
M- This is quite light in body and is carbonated a little heavier than I would have liked....it is very zippy on the palate. As mentioned earlier, it is quite refreshing and the flavors, while moderate, aren't offensive at all....nicely balanced!
O- Out of any Sam Adams brews I've tried to date, this one disappoints a bit. It's not that it's a bad beer, but I think it's an underwhelming brew for what I was expecting and I know it can be brewed with more umph! Still, it is an easy drinking wheat ale that I wouldn't have any issues with enjoying at any time and think it's well suited to anyone getting into the style.
